Obvara Firing Experiment
Jojo kindly let us use (rather heavily) her garden for our first ever Obvara Firing. The weather was very kind to us after days of rain and wind. (Hopefully her grass will recover). Using the raku kiln to fire bisqued, burnished pots. These were removed at aprox 1000o and plunged into a fermented mixture of flour, yeast, sugar and water. The toasted colours were allowed to develop and then the pot was plunged into water to arrest the process. Strange random patterns developed getting better as the mixture warmed up
